Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat” directed by Jehan Bastian, Neidra Williams and Charith De Silva, is a musical that is guaranteed to wow all theatre lovers. The production will take place at the Lionel Wendt theatre from the 25th to the 29th at 7:30pm.
This is a production that has been produced many times but what makes this musical stand out from the rest is the fact that they have put their own unique twist to the original script. Another unique factor of this production is that although this is a school sponsored production, the bulk of the cast consists of old boys as well as female actresses of varied ages.
The production is one that is full of energy, flamboyance, and colour and will hold the attention of the audience right to the end. The cast has worked hard for an entire year and we saw the effortlessness in their acting and singing that only comes from long, tireless hours of perfecting every scene and one hundred percent dedication from each and every actor. Behind the scenes, the cast is never short of a reason to laugh out loud and they seem to have a close bond which has only improved their chemistry on stage.
Although the production is full of fun and laughter, they have not failed to capture the depth and seriousness of the Bible story and have given it the respect it is due.
The production is a must see as it is guaranteed to keep every member of the audience, regardless of their age, engaged in the play from beginning to end. (scroll down to view the video)
