Local Fishermen in Point Pedro are facing dire situations, where Fishermen from other areas are intruding upon their natural fishing grounds. These fishermen use outboard motor boats and fish closer to the shore.

They say that their harvest has decreased by almost 90 percent, due to the over harvesting and use of illegal fishing methods by other fishermen. These fishermen are helpless and look to the authorities to save them and the rest they leave in the hands of God and their patron; Mother Mary.
